Wii U unvailed by Nintendo.

Nintendo have shown off the Wii U, and it looks kickass from initial impressions, frankly Nintendo have succeeded in showing what they needed to to bring a new console.

The console will be like the Wii, HD graphics, better graphics than the 360 and PS3 from what they've shown, fully backwards comaptible, supports all existing peripherals.

The new controller is somewhat like a 360 type controller with a built in 6 inch high def screen, think of it a little like the bottom half of the 3DS, can do all the things the 3DS does with the motion and so forth, there's a front facing camera, I beleive they mentioned a microphone, don't know if theres a back facing camera but I suspect they'd add one for augmented reality which I think is a direction they'd go with what weves seen of the 3DS.

The console is to feature a propritary disc format which is good to hear, it should comperable with that of blueray I'm currently speculating that it could be related to those holographic storage patents nintendo took out a few of years back.

From the sounds of it online abilitys are much improoved over that of the Wii.

Among the games shown was Zelda (Unsure if it was skyward sword or a new Title, but did look graphically impressive beyond what the original wii is capable of).

From what i've seen the graphics are at LEAST as good as that of the PS3 and 360 but i think actually surpases them both.

From the interview i've just watched with Reggie it will feature PSN and XBL type online abilities.

The range of the controller sounds like its about the range of the Wiimote.

To sum up they've dont what they needed to to succeed in my opinion, graphics better than that of existing consoles, more disc storage, better online, stronger 3rd party support, controller thats usable for “hardcore” games and brings even newer and better experiences.

I know I'll be pre-ordering one.

The French why they suck when it comes to YOUR security.

I've just heard about a new law that has apparently been passed in France, which means any e-commerce sites HAVE to store your data and passwords in UNENCRYPTED PLAIN TEXT form.

This means ANYONE working for that company can easily gain access to your details and it also means that so called "hackers" will much more easily be able to compromise your data, if Googles, face book and several other big names fight against this law fails, it is very likely that identity theft, bank fraud and so much more will be much more rampant.

Most companies IF they store your password do it encrypted NEVER in plain text and any GOOD company doesn't even need to store your password they use a method of password identification that checks if the password you entered is correct if it is your data is unencrypted if its not then you cant login, and this is done without them checking the word you typed in against a stored password they already have in their database.

Blogging Begins

I plan on Blogging again, topics shall contain news Items I find interesting along with commentary, editorials on technical tips and suggestions and rants on subjects I get up in arms about.

Well been back to and finished university again thats me till september woo!

Managed to get all my work handed in on time except for one subject because of problems with others so had to put it off for a week and so will get the lowest mark but that’s doesn’t bother me as long as I pass I plan on getting my website back up and running soon I’ll be posting my end of year stuff on it including a directors cut of my video project.

At the moment I’m waiting on GamePark Holdings on releasing the breakout box for the GP2x mostly for its J-TAG abilities because my one is currently out of commission.

I'd say what else has been going on for the past 6 months but I can't remember mostly just university and game playing.

Finaly Finished

Finished University last Friday (8th) until after Xmas break on the last day while trying to finish the last thing off I kept falling asleep and having the start of a bad cold didn’t help so I skipped life drawing and just handed in my work about 20 minutes before submission end met quite a few others from my course there handing their stuff in as well came home went to bed for about four days and spent the rest of the time recovering from cold and relaxing watched the Matrix Trilogy and Animatrix over the last couple of days and that’s about it.

Arg I MUST do University work!

Had my marketing presentation on Thursday however I panicked and didn’t bother reading any of my cue cards and rushed it through.

The girl I emailed I’ve only seen twice across the room in Dynamic Interaction lecture and she didn’t appear to notice me (which is about right) however her friend glanced at me which I found slightly suspicious so it could be she got the email but is trying to avoid me.

Doesn’t really matter all that much since I have a female friend down in London who is planning on moving out when she finishes college around July and is considering getting a flat with me.

Got all my university work due on Friday the 9th however it’s not that bad all I have to do is my dynamic interaction work which comprises of a few character sheets a flash animation of my main character and a small interactive flash application.

for Advanced 3D I have to make a 3D Sculpture based on the work of two Sculptors and do a 1000 essay if I could stop procrastinating I’d have gotten my 3D Stuff done over the weekend however I wasn’t in the mood I will force myself to do it tomorrow.

I got in one of my enthusiastic PhotoShopping moods and made around 100 wallpapers for the GP2x (if your wondering what the GP2x is just check the link to the right) and also made my own skin however I cant make it perfect without getting my hands on a gp2x which I wont order till the next run is released.

I got back to my Notepad remake in Visual Basic 2005 called Notepad EX its almost ready to release however there are a few things I’d like to finish first since I want it at least to have everything the original has with all the extra enhancements I’ve already added and plan on adding however the future additions I’ll leave for future versions.

Also fixed up a few things on my Mortal Kombat Trilogy enhancement mainly fixed a bug I created though editing some text and changed the DOS mode error text to the standard "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." Message.

What's been happening

I spent most of yesterday and today hex editing Mortal Kombat Trilogy fixed up some text errors/inaccuracies changed the file placement so the game folder is cleaner also applied all these to the DOS Windows and windows XP Patched version yes, yes boring I hear you say.

I did however discover a few nifty things of which no one else seems to have found yet for some strange reason all the so called MK "Fans" in the IRC channel I've been going to for years haven't shown much interest in them except for one of the extra stages I've found.

Heh I thought I found redundant text however I have just been informed its related to galaga which is unlockable in the game via the VS Symbol codes however I have found 2 stages which don't seem to be used one is called MOCKPIT and isn't referenced in the code what so ever and the other is called PIT CITY which is referenced but not accessible if I could figure out how to disassemble the code I may be able to enable this.

Setup MAMEWAH a bit last night also to work with DOSBox got some classics for my "MAME" cabinet now such as Tyrian, MKTrilogy & Super Star Dust.

Attended marketing class today just a boring case study of football (soccer) of which I didn't know much about on account of hating all forms of televised sport.

I also finally made a start on doing some of my game design work for university I started modeling the Jester Castle Kingdom in Softimage XSI nothing like what I originally intended but I like what I've done so far I shall post a picture once it's a bit more finalized.

I have not heard back from that girl yet she may not have checked her email or just doesn't want to reply or wants to see me in person (which will probably happen tomorrow well really today now) or it could have been the wrong email address.
